Ticlid is used for:

Reducing the risk of stroke. It may also be used in combination with aspirin to prevent a blood clot from forming after a stent is placed in the coronary artery. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Ticlid is a platelet aggregation inhibitor. It works by thinning the blood, which helps reduce the risk of blood clots and stroke.

Do NOT use Ticlid if:

  • you are allergic to any ingredient in Ticlid
  • you have an active bleeding disorder (eg, bleeding stomach ulcer, bleeding in the brain), a blood disease, blood clotting disorder, thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic anemia, or severe liver problems
  • Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

    Before using Ticlid :

Some medical conditions may interact with Ticlid . Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

  • if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
  • if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
  • if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
  • if you have an increased risk of bleeding due to trauma or surgery, a stomach ulcer, or liver or kidney problems
  • Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Ticlid . Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:

  • Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin), aspirin, heparin, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (eg, ibuprofen) because the risk of bleeding may be increased
  • Antacids because the effectiveness of Ticlid may be decreased
  • Carbamazepine or theophylline because the actions and side effects may be decreased by Ticlid
  • Cyclosporine or phenytoin because the effectiveness may be decreased by Ticlid
  • This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if Ticlid may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

    How to use Ticlid :

  • Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Ticlid .

    Important safety information:

  • Ticlid may reduce the number of clot-forming cells (platelets) in your blood. To prevent bleeding, avoid situations in which bruising or injury may occur. Report any unusual bleeding, bruising, blood in stools, or dark, tarry stools to your doctor.
  • Before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using Ticlid .
