When Not To Use Itraconazole Capsules
Itraconazole Capsules should not be used if: the patient is allergic to any substance found in Itraconazole Capsule; if the patient is under treatment for a particular type of fungal infection or onychomycosis; if the patient has a history of heart complications such as congestive heart failure, or is pregnant; or if the patient is taking aldosterone blockers or any form of related medicine.
Administration of Itraconazole Capsules
Itraconazole Capsules should be used as instructed by a physician. Read the label for the correct drug dosage instructions. Itraconazole Capsules should also be administered after taking a full meal. Antacids should also not be taken an hour or two before using Itraconazole Capsules. Use Itraconazole Capsules no less than 2 hours prior to taking proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole.
In order to completely clear up the infection, Itraconazole Capsules should be used continuously even after you feel improvement of symptoms. Never miss any dose of Itraconazole Capsules. This drug works best when taken during the same time of the day.
In the case of a missed dose of Itraconazole Capsules, it could be taken as soon as remembered. However, if it is already the time for the next dose, the skipped dose can be overlooked altogether. Never combine two doses of Itraconazole Capsules at any time.
Side Effects of Itraconazole Capsules
While almost all medicines can cause side effects, there is little incidence of patients reporting side effects. Consult your doctor in case the following common side effects occur or become troublesome: dizziness; diarrhea, headache; gas; nausea; upset or painful stomach; and stuffy nose.
Get immediate medical attention in case any of the following severe side effects are experienced: serious allergic reactions such as tightness in chest; rash; hives; swelling of the tongue, lips, face, and mouth; difficulty breathing; bloating; chest pain; dark urine, diarrhea, confusion, irregular heartbeat; loss of appetite; fever; numbness of the feet and hands; pale stools; sudden gain in weight; unexplained fatigue or tiredness; and vomiting.
